Garmin GPS 73

  • Muy útil y precio genial
  • A must for every skipperGreat product. Mandatory on any vessel. If you are a skipper you need one.
  • purchase for a friend
  • Muy bueno
  • Large Display capability for Bearing and Distance for setting racing marks. Main reason for purchasing.\"Setting the Starting Line\" is helpful when some distance from the line to let you know the time to get to the line at your present heading, but because of the lag in update and if you are going fast, you better rely on visual sites when close to the line. The \"Tack Assist\" works very well if you got an extra person to watch it. Maybe someday in the future a Bluetooth feature to broadcast at regular intervals whether you are on a lift or a header.
  • So I have been a fan of Garmin and using the Garmin GPS 72H for many years using it for offshore wreck fishing. The 72H was a great handheld GPS unit with pinpoint accuracy. I purchased and tried out this Garmin 73 and hated it from the second I made my way to my first offshore wreck. The screen is simply too small. It is horrible. The pointer arrow is hardly visible. And the worse part of the GPS is it is not pinpoint accurate like the 72H model is. I had both GPS units going simultaneously and it was impossible to precisely position on top of my wreck with the GPS 73. The 72H had a nice long black visible pointer arrow and you can see the distance approaching wrecks. This GPS 73 will only put you in the area of your GPS waypoint. If you were a fan of the discontinued Garmin 72H do not buy this GPS 73 thinking that was improved. It is horrible. I returned it and searching for something with a bigger display and that actually is accurate.
  • I bought this to mark fishing spots near Steinhatchee, Florida. It is easy to mark spots and name them, however every time I get close to a marked spot, the arrow pointing the direction I need to go completely changes on me. It still gets me in the general area I wanted to be.
  • I purchased this as an update to my 72. When I started downloading the data from Garmin and adding waypoints, the system was very clumsy for me. My older unit was easier to use and add waypoints too. Also, it states that you can add additional memory, however, there is not a slot for a memory card or stick. I\'m sure if I spent more time with the unit it will be easier to use, however, I was expecting a really easy transition since this is an upgrade from the older unit.It might just be my lack of electronics expertise, but as stated, the older unit was easier for me to use vs. the newer one. I hope this helps in your decision.
