  • I had a fitbit smartwatch that I used for a long time - UNTIL I started surfing. Even though they claim to be ocean friendly - 3 times surfing and my fitbit died. I purchased this for the surfing features and it has been going strong since I purchased it. Expensive, but worth it if you want to track your sessions.
  • Watch was nice for 5 months until the battery completely died. All of a sudden, standard battery charge went from 2+ weeks to 6 hours from full charge to dead. Similar complaints online seem to be related to a recent software update, which makes little sense. Customer Service generously offered to send me someone else\'s refurbished watch as a warranty replacement. For a $300 watch that lasted 5 months, I would at least expect a new replacement. Would have much preferred a full refund as I now have zero confidence this thing will last.
  • I wanted to get my husband a smart watch for his birthday but I didn’t want to get him an Apple Watch because i didn’t think he needed all those features and the delicate screen and charging requirements don’t really fit his lifestyle. I did a bunch of research and settled on this watch so I took a gamble on it. He won’t take it off! There is a lot to love about this watch but some of the main things my husband likes is the solar charging. He is outside in the sun a lot and this prolongs battery life! Great for someone who is notorious for not charging their things. The watch also has a lot of health information, like heart rate, sleep data, calories burned, just to name a few. Of course the surf features he loves as well!Super stoked that he loves this watch. If you have a surfer or water outdoorsman in your life, now you have an awesome gift option for them!
  • I really wanted to like this watch- it is ok, for surfing i checked it against the ripcurl gps2 (one on each arm for several sessions) and the gps2 is much more accurate and gives better info in the water as well as better tracking downloads. You can customize the face to show various things while you surf but not some obvious ones like wavecount. They jam a lot of stuff on the screen so it is hard to read in the water if your eyes are as old as mine. When I call Garmin to ask about things like this every single time they are knowledgeable and pleasant- they always agree that the watch should be able to do the things I ask but that they are unlikely to change it. (They are amongst the best customer service people with whom I\'ve dealt- too bad the info doesn\'t reach the engineers.)The solar charging is not that good, the body metrics are fun but i wonder about that accuracy as well. There is a lot of things you can do to customize the watch- it is very complex. It is a good all-around watch. Not so much for surfing.
  • Major upgrade from my Vivoactive 4S that was torn off while surfing. Less of a smartwatch, more of a G-Shock that gets notifications, but that\'s exactly what I wanted, just didn\'t know it. Touch screen gets annoying in the water anyway, just having buttons that drive the OS really works way better. Not sure I would be stoked to pay $500 for this, but it was a deal at $330! Surf tracking works really well. Battery life is ridiculous, I think I\'ve charged it two or three times in the month and a half or so that I\'ve owned it. Just a ridiculous amount of runtime since it does not have a touchscreen and a color display.
  • Great watch overall. The only things that could be improved are the accuracy of the wave count (I don’t know how this could be done but sometimes it considers me paddling fast as a wave) and having a feature where you could see the swell in your area. Maybe hook it up to a local bouy. Other than that a fantastic watch and worth the money.
  • So I wanted a tide watch. This is better than the Rip Curl watch that I had to replace the batteries on an annual basis and better than a couple other tide watches that never really were accurate. This watch connects to your start phone and tracks the waves you catch. I think the wave count picks up a wave here or there that I might not have caught all the way, but that\'s OK. I\'m happy with this watch and would buy it again if it were stolen.
