  • After 5 years with my Forerunner 935, finally opted to upgrade. The 935 was/is a great watch - battery life, metrics, accuracy. The 955 takes all that and makes it better - more advanced algorithms supported by more modern hardware. The 935 always seemed accurate for both GPS/location and Heart Rate while running and biking - even without a chest strap, but for things like rowing, it was off - it took 10+ minutes to stop telling me my HR was 125-135bpm when I know I\"m at 150.The 955 nails it on everything I do: run, bike, strength, row, \'yak, hike, etc.It is easier to read than the 935, but doesn\'t compare to the amoled display of other models. I prefer the 955 over the prettier AMOLED-based and Fenix models for battery and weight concerns, respectively. If you want brighter screen, go AMOLED (can\'t recall those models, sorry). If you want a fancier/prettier watch, go Fenix. But I care more about battery life and a light watch. The Fenix crystal display sounds great, but I abused my Garmin watch rebuilding a Jeep, under their cranking wrenches around and it never got noticeably scratched (a few times I was amazed at this). Not long ago I tripped on a 10m run, bruised my hip and a rib, and busted the display - I hit HARD. Years out of warranty, Garmin replaced the watch for $130!The body batter and training readiness metrics seem spot on. I\'ve semi-ignored them while pushing my limits in prep for a race, and it showed in today\'s little 10k easy day run. Started strong, but did not finish strong, as predicted by the watch. Fine. I\'ll start listening.I had a Polar watch way back, (not fair to compare that old thing to this 955). I liked the Polar, but unless Garmin drops the ball, I see no reason to ever get anything else. The dang thing just works properly and accurately for every thing you might want to do. the accessories (HR chest strap with run dynamics, bike speed/cadence, etc) all pair easily and work flawlessly.I\'m gushing, I know, but this thing gives me actionable metrics that help me plan my 6 to 7 day/week workouts and keep me motivated to continue. Read the reviews on DCRainmaker site (sometimes I think that guy knows more than Garmin). What can I say that\'s negative...well, the sleep app is probably only about 80% accurate or so overall - 95% accurate for actual time spent sleeping, perhaps lower for identifying REM, deep, light sleep. That\'s about the worst thing I can think of to say.Oh, I \"sold\" 4 others on them and they all love them, but Garmin did not pay me a commission. :-) C\'mon Garmin...$50 bucks seems fair. :-)If you run, bike, swim, paddle, row, and/or strength train. I don\'t see how you could do much better. (again, remembering to consider whether your prefer AMOLED display over battery life, or pretty/heavy(er)/pricy(er) over the 955\'s lightness, long battery life, etc.Cheers.
  • I was a little worried initially if this would look a bit small on my wrist. Something about a big bold watch on my wrist I was really drawn to. This watch fits just that and is a little more elegant than the Fenix line, in my opinion. My first Garmin watch was the Venu Sq Music, which I still currently use for work. Work is a bit physical, and I want to keep this watch for just my workouts, mainly running. The Venu Sq Music is a little small for my liking, but I really like the look and feel of this watch.I would personally recommend to get the solar option, but as others have said, if you never go outside it\'s probably not needed. I ordered this watch mid Oct 2022, so not as many opportunities in WI to gauge the charging/maintaining abilities- I will have to wait for summer or a vacation for that. I did have a nice sunny day in late October here, and sitting for roughly 1hr in the sun charged a percent. Pretty decent in my opinion. I do not use any of the music, txt alert, or other Bluetooth options other than to sync to my phone every few days. Battery life is amazing. To a point that I actually have to think hard when my last charge was when it finally needs to be plugged in. I\'m sure not using the Bluetooth alerts help a lot. I run just about everyday and use the GPS on run mode, so I still do challenge the battery a bit.Tons of features that I am still learning. The watch does take a few weeks to \"learn you\". I take the training suggestions with a grain of salt, but have noticed suggestions are not all that far off from my pre-planned training program.I like the quick morning report each morning. Kinda fun to wake up and look at phone for this info.Sure it\'s expensive but GPS tracking, battery life, and overall software/options on this watch are very expensive.I was on the fence at first, but very glad I pulled the trigger.
  • Excellent fitness and GPS tracking, battery life, spotify works great.I have lost 10lbs and dropped 8min+ from my 5K time and quadrupled the distance I can run.
  • I specifically wanted this watch to be able to track not only my distance running or hiking but to allow me to see a map of the area I am in to be able to plan my course while running or hiking.
  • I have worn a Fitbit for at least the last 5 years. In the last year I\'ve been focusing a lot more on distance running. Felt like the Garmin had better reviews for mapping and GPS so I bought this watch. I\'ve been very happy with everything about it. It\'s larger than a watch I may normally wear however it\'s not bulky or heavy. The screen is easy to read and the data that it gives you is great. I did invest in super Shield screen protectors and they\'ve already paid for themselves. I don\'t know that I would get the solar if I were to do it again. I would probably save the money and just go for the standard 955. I don\'t know that the added solar charging is as much of a benefit to me in my use as I thought it may be. Eventually I will start training for multisports and I love that this has the availability for swimming and biking Etc. I\'ve since added a running pod and heart rate monitor chest strap, both Garmin. The ease of use with all three items gives you excellent metrics you can see your running stats and where you may need to improve or where you have improved. If you like data I would recommend investing in those as well.
  • After multiple years with another popular watch I finally made the switch to Garmin and I will never go back. This watch is helping me improve my overall fitness and train for an upcoming triathlon.
  • Na
  • I have all the data I need during my run, precisely and clearly.
