- Garmin does send a safety lanyard with its bike computer units - It works adequately - a thread loop for the unit and an elastic loop for the stem, handlebar, cable or what ever. How long the elastic lasts I do not know. I traded up to this lanyard when I added an after market stem mount which fits under the stem cap. My Edge 1000 unit did not leave room to comfortably loop the old lanyard on the stem anymore so I bought a G-SAVR and looped it over the left shifter cable. Still easy to attach and remove the computer to and from the bike and the 1000 is still safe from the jars and bangs of hard riding. The Garmin quarter turn mount is great for easy on and off but needs some sort of backup lanyard. This one works great. BTW, I see some people do not like the short loop. I do not think it was meant as a wrist loop. When using this lanyard as protection for electronics attached to a bike you must limit the devices travel in the event of a complete disconnect from its mount. Last thing you want is to allow the unit to get into a spinning wheel. The loop lock helps to keep the lanyard from sliding on the cable and the short loop keeps the unit out of the reach of trouble.
- This thing is awesome! I bought 2 of these. I use it to tether my Garmin Edge 20 to the handlebars of my mountain bike and my road bike. Now I don\'t have to worry about it rattling loose and coming out of the twist mount that is attached to my stem. And, if the twist mount rubber bands that wrap around the stem happen to break, my Edge won\'t fall to the ground. The fabric strap portion is just the right length... just long enough of reach but not so long that it dangles. I leave the small \"string\" portion attached to my Edge and leave one strap connected to my mountain bike and the other strap is connected to my road bike handlebars (I slipped the strap over the end of the handlebars instead of wrapping it around them). I simply unsnap the Edge at the end of a ride to take into the house to charge and connect it to whichever bike I decide to ride the next day.
- Bought several of these and have the loop half on each bike. This way, I simply use the quick connect half installed permanently on the Garmin or other device to attach. Built heavy and strong. Love these.
- Good product but way overpriced
- Bought this to wrap around my handlebars in case my GPS mount gets loose/comes off.So far so good.
- I was really excited about the concept, but the execution left a little to be desired. The strap is strong, but it didn’t fit over the hoods on my drop bar gravel bike (SRAM Apex). The clasp also seemed very cheap and didn’t hold well. I opted to use a similar lanyard with no clasp and was able to loop the computer through the strap around the handlebar. No hardware to break and still easy to remove.
- I have these on all of my bikes. Tethering takes 2 seconds compared to using the Garmin provided tether. Zero issues in the two years that I’ve used them and they have saved me from buying a new Garmin or hunting it down.As you can see in the attached photo, it holds the device just fine when tabs break, even in chunky mountain bike stuff.
- use to secure my Garmin Edge to my bike.Seems to do the trick.
