TUSITA Case Compatible with Garmin Edge 520 Plus - Silicone Protective Cover - GPS Bike Computer Accessories
- I bought this because I tend to drop my Garmin often. Plus I wrecked my bike and the impact knocked it out of its mount and even though I had it attached to the handlebars by the lariat the Garmin got scratched on the edge. So I decide to protect my Garmin and try to squeeze a few more rides out of my older model Garmin.I was worried about the button sensitivity but that is not an issue with this cover.I have dropped it since putting the cover in and it just bounced and was fine.I’m very happy with my purchase.
- For $5 this is the best investment you can make. I just dropped my garmin from just a few feet (and it didn\'t have one of these on it)) and the screen shattered from the edge where it hit the pavement.I\'m absolutely sure if I had one of these on it I wouldn\'t have had to go out and buy a new unit. This is very grippy so roux he unit won\'t as easily squirt out of your hand while holding it.I don\'t get the folks that say it makes it harder to press the side buttons - I don\'t find that to be an issue at all - buttons are very responsive. The only downside is that the edges are so wide that it does cover the little \"icons\" printed in the screen that indicate button function.Just memorize the upper-left is power, and lower-right starts/stops ride and you are set.UPDATE: this does have the icons pressed into the cover - see picture!Buy this, you\'ll be glad you did.
- I bought both the Tusita (in black) and the official Garmin (in green) product to compare. Overall I think the Tusita is a better product but each have their benefits.PROS: The Tusita has better overall coverage, wraps across the screen with wider margin, is thicker and more sturdy than the Garmin. It also has a cutout for the lanyard port where the Garmin does not. The Tusita was a few dollars less than the Garmin.CONS: You cannot see the button icons with the Tusita, the buttons are not as easy to press as the Garmin due to the thicker material.EQUAL: Neither one gets in the way of putting the Garmin in the quarter turn mount on the bike.
- I am only reviewing the silicone case - not the screen protectors nor the lanyard (though the lanyard seems secure). I bought a set of glass screen protectors and I am using the lanyard that came with the Edge.On to the review of the case. This is spongy thick (but not too thick) silicone, very flexible but capable of absorbing shocks and hits. I know - I have bought similar for multiple other devices over the years. All buttons are covered and easily pushable without extra effort, it wraps around and covers the edges around the screen perfectly but allows full visual access to the screen from any angle. The quarter turn mount on the back is fully exposed so as not to interfere with mounting it nor adding too much space if it needs to be close to other parts of the bike. There is a slot for the lanyard and the waterproof flap over the power plug is open. The case goes on easily, and comes off easily if needed. The silicone is firm enough to stay in place along the edges - which on some silicone cases sometimes is not the case as there can be some \'brushing aside\' if something swipes across it. Not with this case. The only complaint isn\'t with this case specifically - but just silicone in general; it does sometimes pick up a bit of hair, especially if you have cats and dogs in the house. No big deal, a hair here and there, not like it is going to attract it overly much. All in all, a top notch and well-designed case. Highly recommend it for anyone with a 520 Edge or 520 Edge Plus - it fits both.
- Just put on the Garmin Edge 520 case and screen protector. Couldn\'t be more pleased-silicone is tight and no bubbles under the screen protector! Like other that have posted reviews I found it extremely difficult to put it on the out-front Garmin bracket. Something I noticed when I opened the package was a small zip lock bag with 3 screws, 3 shims, and a hex key -I thought to myself \"what are these for?\" Then it came to me - they\'re for raising the attachment point when the Garmin locks into the bracket. I went out to my bike and took off the bracket. On the backside of the bracket is 2 screws which holds the mounting plate to the bracket. I went ahead and unscrewed them - there\'s indentations in the bracket where the shims go in to raise the plate a couple millimeters. I put in the shims and used the provided longer screws to reattach the mounting plate to the bracket. Once back on the bike I put on the Edge 520 and it fit perfectly-no more difficulty getting the Edge to mount to the bracket. The whole job took about 3 minutes - a whole lot shorter than it took me to write this review! Buy the case you won\'t be disappointed. By the way - I always use the lanyard and attach it to my handlebars for extra protection. Hope this helps!
- Why Garmin doesn\'t just use these guys and replace their basic cover is beyond me. Worked great in 22 degree weather and was snappy when hitting buttons. The OEM Garmin cover had some warping issues after a while and the buttons struggled to get presses. The bigger buttons and bigger silicone coverage without the OEM Garmin issues, makes it so worth it
