Garmin Legacy Hero Series, Marvel Captain America Inspired Premium Smartwatch, Includes a Captain America Inspired App Experience
- I\'m a huge Captain American fan, which was the main draw for me. I\'ve been wanting this watch for quite some time, but never pulled the trigger due to some concerns that others posted and the high price tag. It\'s really just the Vivoactive 4 for $120 more, so why buy this one I thought. After finally pulling the trigger (it was really a birthday gift), I\'m happy I have it now. Here are some thoughts I have about the watch, after week 1:I\'m coming from a Fitbit Versa that unexpectedly stopped working after owning it for 1.5 years. I loved it for the fitness/health tracking features. This watch has the same features (compared to Versa first edition) and a much better app IMO. I really like the detail of the graphs, as I\'m a data nut. Going back to look at my Fitbit stats, I\'m underwhelmed by the Fitbit app. I did consider getting a Versa Sense before, but I don\'t regret the switch to Garmin.I was initially concerned about some of the comments regarding the screen quality (pixilation) and brightness. I will say these are valid complaints, as the colors and clarity are a bit on the softer side. However, after spending some time with the watch, I\'m not as bothered as I initially was.I really like that they included a leather and silicone band. The leather band works well for occasions where I want the watch to look less casual, and evokes images of the Captain America suit from the first movie. The silicone band is nice and comfortable, and works much better when I\'m active as it doesn\'t slip on my wrist like the leather band does. Finally, the battery life is not as good as I had hoped. I believe Garmin says expect up to 7 days in smartwatch mode, but I don\'t get close to that. I\'ve tweaked the display settings and made some other changes to prolong the battery life, per Garmin\'s suggestions, but only getting about 2 - 3 days. Also, I don\'t have the watch on wi-fi (for music syncing), or use GPS, so I don\'t know why the battery life is half of what they advertise. This is my biggest disappointment, but I can live with it (for now).Overall, I\'m happy with the watch.
- This is the only watch with a buckled strap that has ever felt comfortable on my wrist. I\'m not a petite woman, but I have very narrow wrists and have always disliked things flopping around or being too tight on my wrist. This one fits very comfortably. Even though this is the larger face, I\'m a Cap fan, so I got the Cap version.It\'s been great to help me remember to log my water intake, the app is a better and less intense weight tracking system for me, and I love that it buzzes me now and again to get up. It keeps me from getting stuck in my head while I\'m doing something, which was one of my primary reasons for getting a smartwatch. The other primary reason was to have my reminders and notifications that I want through the watch so I don\'t have to take my phone off silent. The watch irritates me so much less than my phone vibrating. And it was pretty easy to set up which notifications I want to come through. When it\'s not lit up, the branding is pretty subtle, but the blue and leather styling is really nice. The silicone strap fits even more comfortably, but I would probably only use that for more intense exercise. And the battery life is great. It\'ll last 5 days easily, sometimes longer. The themed faces are nice, some more obviously themed than others. I prefer the subtle ones, but the themed animations are fun and encouraging.
- I upgraded to this device when the previous one started aging out. There are so many more options, and it does a great job of allowing me to track my strength work, where the previous one was oriented more toward dedicated runners.Trying to figure out how to start/stop swimming has been a chore. There doesn\'t seem to be a simple \"done\" option. I have to fiddle with the buttons for way too long to end the workout.A small irritation for an otherwise fantastic watch!
- When it comes to Captain Marvel, \"i see it, i like it, want it, i got it!\" When I initially got this, I was turned off by the faded looking graphics on the watch face, even at full brightness, like another user mentioned. It looks like the contrast is offset or something. It\'s not vibrant. It looks like the brightness is cranked up but the colors stay faded looking. However when there is minimal backlighting, it does look clear... not vivid, but clear. Having worn multiple apple watch models over the years, I\'ve become very used to the brightness and clarity of my watches. I\'ve never owned a Garmin watch so this is new territory. I was hesitant to actually use the watch because of the dim screen and thought I\'d hold on to it as a collectable instead, but then I thought... this is a really expensive watch to just sit in a box on a shelf, so I decided to put it to use... and boy am I glad that I did!! I can\'t stress enough how much I LOVE this watch! I love the stress tracker, the respiratory tracker (i counted my breaths to test its accuracy and it\'s surprisingly accurate give or take 1 breath), the Garmin Coach, the sleep analysis, and everything else! The notifications work very well even better than my AW in my opinion. I can\'t respond through my watch (that i\'m aware of, but I never responded from my AW either. I\'m still learning the multiple functions (I\'d like to test the emergency contact function) but it\'s definitely gotten me motivated. It may not work for everybody, but it\'s hitting all of my needs! The functionality definitely trumps the dimness.
