Key Finder Pair, Indisputably The Loudest with Long Life Replaceable Battery

  • I love this device, but now I like it even more1.You see, I lost my keys the other day, just days before a trip to my home in Mexico. If I couldn’t have found them, I’d have had to cancel my trip. So, I got out the Key FInder device and pressed its button twice. It went off, but I didn’t get a response to it. So, I hit it again, it made an unexpected sound and died! further double presses of its button produced nothing!I was pretty freaked out, as I had no idea what I could now do to find them. The lady, who sits my house, and I searched for 2 hours, and nothing! So, I gave up and went to Amazon to see if there was a warranty o the Key Finder. I not only learned that there was a warranty, but I also managed to find a phone number for the makers of it, as well as doing a web search and finding their web site. So, I tried to call them, but only reached voice mail. I left a message there, and I also sent one through the message portal I found there. Not 15 minutes later, I got a call from a guy who, I suspect, is the designer of the device & the founder of the company. He explained to me that these devices work by actually ‘listening’ for the tones that one hears when the button on one is double clicked. The other one hears that tone, and responds with the same tone, so it can be located. He also pointed out a page at his web site, where one can click on a link, and whatever device you’ve accessed that web page with, if the device has the ability to produce audio, will generate the necessary tones, so the Key Finder will hear it and respond! So, I got out my smart phone and went to his web site. When I clicked on the link, my phone emitted the needed tones. So, I began to search for the keys with it. But, I still got no response in the house, upstairs. So, I went down to the garage and tried it. I also got no response. But, then I remembered something the maker thad told me, about how he sometimes loses things , and his wife always asks him if he’s looked in the refrigerator! I remembered that I’d been showing my house sitter where she could find food, and that I’d opened the big chest freezer in the garage. So, I walked over to it, and as soon as I lifted the lid a crack, I could hear the thing going off! My keys were hiding under a bunch of Salmon fillets! So, not only is this a great device, but it has some of the best, most caring support, that I’ve ever encounter! They\'re sending me a replacement for my failed unit under their warranty. Plus, now that I know about the ability to use my Smart phone to locate one of them, I can use the 2nd one for a 2nd set of keys! No longer do I need to keep it in a drawer, where I can always find it! I’ve recorded that tone onto my Smart phone, so now I don’t even need to load the web site to use it!There is one caution I would give you - routinely change the battery in the units, and do it annually. They won’t be fully used up yet, but other devices that are less critical can then use them until they’re expired, so they don’t go to waste. You surely don’t want them to expire in the units, only to discover that, when you’re trying to find you lost keys! If the unit on the keychain has depleted its battery, you will not be able to locate them! In spite of that - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
  • The media could not be loaded.  If you\'ve come to view this product because you misplaced your keys then you need these! Back in 2017 I finally decided to try these out. I needed them years ago. What was I waiting for? They are the loudest out there but if you just lose your keys in a small space and out in the open then you can adjust the volume down. If you have ever misplaced your keys in your pocket in a piece of clothing that you put in a laundry basket or under a couch cushion or in your basement or in the yard or garage or your car with the doors closed you will appreciate the loudness. If you own that McMansion or you like to survey your expansive property the loudness is also needed. Try them out first at high volume before adjusting down. Their range is an admirable 300 ft. If you have multiple people in your home that need these I think they offer to adjust to different frequencies on their website so everybody\'s key finder does not ring at once. Since I have an autistic who learned how to unlock the front door I need to keep keys away from her so she doesn\'t decide to go out on the swing set at midnight while I am sleeping or something crazy like that. That\'s why either the keys are on me or hidden but that makes them easier to misplace. Also I have a key on there that locks a closet where snacks are kept. She has occasionally found a key hiding place, absolutely raided the snacks and then tossed the keys. This product is essential for me. I use it weekly but some of my relatives are purely the absent minded type and misplace their keys. If that\'s you, don\'t hesitate, no shame, just buy these and then congratulate yourself the first time you use these. If they even save you one time from having to replace a high priced security key like a Medeco or an expensive vehicle key it will be worth it. They may save you from being late to church, to meet your date or some important appointment too. I don\'t quite understand the one review showing the interior of the unit and the difficulty of replacing the battery. The battery compartment is on the upper part of the back of the device! Yes, you need two hands to open it but that poster must have disassembled the unit from the front. Changing the battery is not that hard but yes, I use my reading glasses when I do it. The battery life is probably about as suggested based on my owning the product for 5 years. Supposedly it starts to light up and beep when the battery is down but since this product is crucial for me I change the battery yearly not to take chances. I don\'t have the original set I bought 5 years ago I did need to replace it since 2017 but the product is guaranteed for 2 years and their customer service is excellent.
  • The short version, if you\'re looking for something that will help you find your keys, stop looking and get this.I bought this long ago, never wrote the review. I\'ve looked at many others, had a couple others, mediocre at best. The KeyRinger isn\'t fancy, it doesn\'t display anything, it just finds your keys because it is LOUD. Not only is it LOUD, it flashes the little red light, which even in the daytime can be seen. The latest situation was my keys (for a different car) fell between the seats. I went to drive the other car, and had no keys. I took the KeyRinger for the first car, clicked the button, and waited. They say I don\'t hear the best, but I immediately could hear the other one. It took two tries, but I found it, with the help of the little flashing red light.I\'ve got four of them, I\'m really wanting more because my wife and daughter have keys too, but of course they don\'t lose them like I do (LOL).But having the KeyRinger, it is guaranteed you won\'t lose your keys. The only potential problem is if you let the battery run down, but I\'ve had mine several years and it is still going strong. I\'ll probably be replacing it at some point soon though, as I use them often. (Other key finders are so ridiculous that you can\'t even change the battery!)
  • pro:Key finder works great if you are within the operating range.con:It does not work like other gadgets that can be tracked from miles away and be tracked via smart device.
  • It’s loud enough and it’s effective, but it could look more aesthetically pleasing.
  • Excellent
