  • It\'s big..yes, but if you\'re into outdoors, hiking, shooting...this watch does it all. It won\'t give you readings as a diver...but for navigation...it is a must. Was in a very remote area in the southern parts of the Philippines. Nothing else picked up GPS navigation. This did. Easily. The Ballistic version is not sold in the Philippines for good reason, but mine is from the US and does have it. Testing it out for ranging and shooting....1 kilometer (roughly over a thousand yards as it is 1000 meters), it is spot on. Easily calculated for targets at that distance. Would have tried for 1 mile, but we didn\'t have a rifle/ammo that could hit out that far. As for the solar charging...it helps to prolong operations. If you set it to minimum...it will charge. When it is on minimum it\'ll run for two months or longer without being charged. When you use it for navigation, tracking, etc....It will last anywhere from ten to eighteen days depending on how heavily you use all of the crazy functions this watch has. Durability is amazing. I\'ve had this over a year now and I have yet to scratch it. I mainly use the rubber straps as you sweat a lot where I\'m at. The webbed strap will collect your sweat and will not be pleasing to smell after a while. Switching them out is easy so when it is cooler I opt for the webbing. And no...the straps do not come off in operation. This watch does so much. It will likely be the last operational watch you\'ll ever need....unless it\'s under water. For erasing information...it\'s so easy. So...for you military guys...it will erase everything rather quickly.
  • This watch is amazing and is 1000 times better then Suunto 9.. I had to charge my Suunto every 4 days. I have had the Garmin Tactix for over a month now and have charged it 1 time.. the Garmin Connect App is also 100% better the Suunto\'s crappy app.. This Tactix is easy to see and easy to Navigate.. love it!!
  • I have a few watches that I wear , this is by far my favorite, it does everything
  • I\'ve had mine for about 3 months and only had to charge it 3 times. the solar charging works well and really helps keep the battery life up. I\'ve used the golf app loaded on the watch itself and it works great at a few different courses. the watch bands leave a little to be desired, and the cost is high. but overall a great watch.
  • I think too many people far too often rate products with such great reviews without truly using products. If you are going to spend $1200 on a watch and not wait past the honeymoon period to give it a review... I\'ve had this watch a couple months now and I have to say for the price I am completely underwhelmed. Its primary and sole purpose i bought if for: Heart Rate, saphire crystal because i work in blue collar crappy conditions that usually ruin my glass and watch with dirt, dust, high chlorine water, herbicides and insecticides all corrosive. Solar power because I dont want to charge a watch with frequency. I am outdoors all day 5 days a week. Welp, im charging my watch as I type this review. The battery life with minimal features operating is under 21 days. I just have the HR monitor on constant with no gps or pulse ox. The watch band sucks. its flexible silicone and your first month you will put it on too tight and it will leave a uncomfortable rash. If you wear it in the shower take it off and get all soap residue off. if you do not, you will get a nasty soap rash.Do not buy this watch looking for accurate altitude measurements based on gps location. I do not know where garmin gets its altitude measurement maps from but they are not accurate to anything I have in my area based off our actual elevation land studys via our local government and other altitude apps.i do not trust the heart rate monitor as it is erratic to other methods of measuring heart rate via chest straps or finger pulse ox monitors. The app and software calculations for the calorie burn is something i wanted foremost with garmin. I use it to calculate against my calorie intake for the week to give me an idea of progress. Although inaccurate i believe it to be consistent. The one plus to the watch is the notifications. I always have my hands filthy or where i cannot get my phone out of my pocket fast enough. it is great to screen calls or see if a text warrants stopping what i am doing. the replies are limited and you can make custom responses. but for the price it should have as much ability as an apple watch with phone calls and voice text.I do not find the watch to be very intuitive and it could use a refresh on the OS. the same goes for the app as there is so much garbage that I just dont use. it needs to be more customizable to what i want and dont want.I rate this watch as a \"hot blonde\". She looks good and everyone is jealous you have it but its mostly useless minus a few features and of course she comes with a price tag. if you have $1200 and are impulsive like myself i give it 3 stars.
