Digicharge 5 Inch GPS Sun Shade Visor For Garmin Zumo 396 595LM 395LM 345LM 590LM 660LM 350LM 390LM Dezl OTR500 TomTom Rider 500 550 420 450 410 Go Comfort Supreme 5’’ BMW Navigator 5 4 V IV 4.3 5
- I needed something to shade the glare on the screen of my Nuvi 55 mounted on my motorcycle. This fits perfectly and does a good job.
- very versatile and works
- I recently bought the new motorcycle-specific Garmin Zumo 396 LMT-S GPS for my Kawasaki KLR650, and used it for a cross-country motorcycle trip this summer. I love the 396 unit, it worked great on my trip! My only issue was sun glare on the screen at certain times of the day. When I returned home, I searched for a sunshade visor for my 396 GPS, but had trouble finding anything for the 396 model. From the photos and description of this sunshade on Amazon, I was pretty sure it might work, so I took a chance and ordered it. I just got it today, and it fits my Garmin 396 motorcycle GPS unit fine. The sunshade itself sticks out farther than I expected, so it should provide lots of shade for the GPS. It is made of a hard plastic and has foam on bottom where it sits on the screen of the GPS. The two elastic straps that hold the sunscreen on are a little flimsy, and will probably stretch out over time, but I\'m hoping they last a while. I think they will be easy to replace if they do stretch out. Overall I am very pleased with this sunscreen. (The picture I uploaded is the one that was posted on Amazon. It is not the new Garmin 396 GPS, it is an older model motorcycle GPS. But when I saw this picture on Amazon, I was pretty confident the shade would also fit on the new model 396 that I have)
- TLDR: This is a must have accessory I never knew I needed until I bought it.More Details:So I recently decided \"I want a bike specific GPS unit.\" So I bought one. This was a suggested add on from Amazon and I thought, what the heck, its not much more... Ill give it a whirl. SO, a couple of tips. This goes on last. There are two elastic straps that go over the GPS and the Mounts. So, last. Normally that would annoy me, that its not integral... but it fits SO WELL. Its solid, stable, and really blocks out the light in a productive way. I never knew I needed it until I had it. Biggest pro? Night time, it cuts all the glare and out from the back of the shield, excess lghting on the controls.... etc. Still some ambient glow on the tank area, but whatevs.Buy it. Its awesome.Would highly reccomend if you are more than a marginal distance rider.
- Installed the Zumo as a substitute for the BMW OEM Nav V (Zumo 595) on the instrument panel. The Zumo sits close to the panel and it\'s a tight fit to get the Sunshade straps over the ends without removing the GPS from the holder but it doesn\'t have to be done very often on my R1200RT WC. When I had the Zumo 396 mounted on the handlebar of my R1150GS it was easy to install because I had lots of clearance on the back side to slide the straps over the GPS and mount. That space behind isn\'t available on the RT and it\'s more difficult. I can\'t mount the shade first then snap the Zumo + Sunshade combination onto the mount because the straps slide inboard and interfere with the mount latch. The answer for me has been as stated above and it\'s worth the occasional hassle to have the added shade provided by the product. So far the straps haven\'t stretched out of shape.
- Is held to the gps very snug. The elastic straps are about at their limit with the 660.
- I\'ve had a Zumo 660 for over 10 years. A year after I got it I got a sun shade that attached with Velcro, came out almost 3 inches for shade, but covered the power button. The Velcro was always an issue, as I often attach the Zumo to my computer to load and unload. The shade had to be removed and the Velcro undone. In the past three years I\'ve had to add some black electrical tape to hold the shade on.This new shade has a much better mounting system. It is easy to use and is never in the way. The shade is only 1½ inches of shade covering. It is not as useful as the old one.
- It works as advertised, but isn\'t a great fit for a Zumo 595. The interior dimensions are EXACTLY the same as the screen size, so if it slips off a bit (which it will), you lose a small part of the visible screen. Typically this occurs in the vertical direction, so the top or bottom of the screen is partially hidden. The thick part of the shade (the upper part) is hollow and the base is covered by a thin rubber cloth. This rubber will come off after a while, making the cover slip around a bit more. All in all, it\'s an acceptable sun shade, but it wasn\'t designed for the Zumo 595 and isn\'t the best fit possible. Still, it\'s much better than nothing, and the price is right.
