  • Bought it for my son for Christmas. Product was renewed but looked new out of the box. Works great and is a nice looking watch. Nice feature to have MP3 on the watch do you don\'t have to carry you phone everywhere.
  • My 5 year old Garmin Forerunner 35 watch died, and I did not feel like shelling out $200 or more for something that only lasts a few years, and it seems all these wearable electronics don\'t last long. Looking for a replacement, I thought it would be nice to have something that would replace the Forerunner but could also play music so I do not have to carry my phone with me. A lot of the new music watches cost well over $200 but then I ran into these refurbished Vivoactive 3 watches. These are practically new but looks like they are being discontinued by Garmin so sold as \"refurbished\" These watches are great for moderate workouts (Playing music and having GPS will drain the battery in 3-4 hours, so these watches are not for any kind of ultra-marathon runners, etc). Battery life just in watch mode is about 4-5 days which is OK, too. Waterproof for swimming is also a plus. Syncing with Spotify (need premium subscription) is easy, but a bit cumbersome (need to set up Wifi and sync with full battery or plugged in only, best very close to Wifi router), this is kind of reminiscent of syncing old style MP3 players, but there is plenty of memory on the watch to have enough playlists to have a decent rotation. Overall very satisfied. Only thing, given that these are de facto discontinued 2019 models, the price should be less than $100, IMO. Battery life could be a bit better too.
  • Took me longer to figure everything out, but once I did, I’m starting to enjoy it more. I’ve been using this watch for a week now. The watch charges pretty fast. I charged it yesterday midday since then I’ve only used it for running last night (had it on all day besides when it was charging) and my percentage is at 73%. I don’t use my watch throughout the day, pretty much only for running at night. I could probably go 2 days without charging it.I typically run 4 days a week with my dog and needed a watch with GPS and music. The GPS calculates almost the same as my Nike app, so I believe it\'s pretty accurate. I struggled at first to figure out the GPS for running because it really doesn’t work until you start running, so it can be really confusing if your trying to figure it out while you’re sitting. The Navigator was confusing at first too, I had to do some Google searching to know how it works more in detail. I use Spotify for my music and this was pretty easy to figure out for me. I download the playlist when I go running, so I don\'t have to bring my phone.Only thing I don’t like is when you are running and come to a stop or start, it takes a few seconds for the watch to realize this (even when it’s on the automatic stop/start option). The watch appearance seemed a little unfashionable to me at first, but you get used to it. Amazon has some good choices for watchbands that I’ll probably buy eventually. Other than that, no other complaints so far.Overall, once you figure out how to use the watch it is definitely worth the money if you need a GPS and music while being phoneless. I believe this watch is perfect for runners at an affordable price and I can’t wait to use it for my race this weekend. I\'m glad went with the refurbished watch because it truly was brand new to me.
  • I had high hopes for this watch but it is so glitchy that I have had to spend hours trying to get the music functions to work correctly. I have a high tolerance for complicated tech gadgets, this has really tested my patience unlike any gadget has before. Today for example I’ve spent nearly 30 minutes simply trying to get my headphones to pair. Yesterday, the challenge was getting Spotify podcasts to download. The day before that it was getting the watch to pair with my iphone, which ultimately required that I reinstall the app. Even when the music and pairing functions are working, the interface is very complicated. Turning off and on the heart rate monitor requires clicking through four different successive menus! And even finding different menus for different functions is not always clear—sometimes you need to hold a finger on the watch face, sometimes you need to press the side button, sometimes you need to hold the side button down for two seconds, sometimes you need to die across the watch face. Beyond this, the music functions — the reason this watch is uniquely attractive — are also complicated, and a simple synch à am iphone does not exist. You have to use either your computer or the web app to download different types of content (You have to use your computer for iTunes content and you have to use the app for Spotify content). When this works, it is good, but those occasions unfortunately are rare. The watch seems designed also to favor a subscription based Spotify account by making that synch easier and favoring Spotify and iHeart radio in the watch menus.I rarely write reviews but I have had such a difficult time with this watch that I felt compelled. I was on the verge of sending this back, but was finally able to figure everything out. I never had any of these issues with my old Apple Watch. What this has over the Apple Watch is much longer battery life, these music functions, and the fact that the display does not go to sleep as in an Apple Watch. Overall, I’m befuddled: why did Garmin roll out a product with such a complex interface!?
