    • My two old Garmins, I lost touch for a screen, and got this replacement. Took a few days to get over the common complaints, but now it duplicates the older models. The concept behind this one is documented as modular and logical and isn\'t near as intuitive nor practically illustrated. The older models I expected two things: (i) the resettable screen for mileage, top and average speed, and so forth, (ii) trip navigation by input of address, (iii) detailed individual map blow-up on upcoming trip turns. This has them and lots more. They\'re accessed through both the initial power-up and global screen overlap menu options, as well as an options menu when to specific function screens, such as both the \"trip\" or \"show map while driving\" individual screens. The Trip A & B option selectable icons I use for tracking distance between fuel stops, for the (i) mileage. Similarly, a selectable option to toggle on and off (iii) next-turn details occurs from the \"trip\" screen. Work with it awhile and it will start to make sense. All the extra, more detailed features, this one has, I may not use, as they seem tailored more for a commercial setting (multiple point route editing, shaping, besides others). Last and nice touch, is the documentation seems for the most duplicated from off the APPS menu. Seems, hope this is right, that in order to get the (i) Trip A & B initially to work required entering/save a source/destination first from one of the apps -- although both source/destination can be identical as your standard HOME setting/address. Decent GPS if it lasts anywhere as long as my older Garmin models.
    • PROS:quick, accurate routing. smooth rendering. Nice information display on the map – street name, upcoming, etc. automatic alternative route, or manually touch the screen to create custom alternative route. autofill in search window. split view for highway ramps. Separate upcoming tab - turns, POIs, distance, etc.CONS:1. no traffic capability! this is a showstopper for me. i need my route to consider traffic, and i need to be able see on the map where congestion occurs. so, i returned the EX version for the LMT version.2. power supply hard-wired to an on old clunky cigarette lighter adapter. the year is 2018. get with the program garmin. at a minimum, provide a usb that plugs into a small lighter adapter.3. confusing menu drilldown. this should\'t be that hard, but garmin does their best to confuse the interface.4. granny features. i don\'t need to know i\'m going 5MPH over the limit, and i can see with my own peepers that there\'s a curve coming up. I’m not blind, or should I say, sight-challenged.5. POI menu. Its senseless, as in, doesn’t make sense. Allows me to shuffle POI types up and down. Who cares? And looks like I must have a minimum of 3 POIs, but i only want one.6. no storage case.7. poor documentation. you get an Ikea style sheet of icons. nothing more. first, you must plug it in and let the battery charge for at least an hour. you can\'t even turn it on until battery has charged. then, it displays the website address, and you must go to that address to start the update process. of course, you must plug the unit into your computer, but you can\'t do that with the provided power cord. you have to buy your own cord that has a usb. fortunately at least the update process works smoothly.
    • This works great! I almost didn\'t buy it because it was too inexpensive to actually work, right? Or so I mistakenly thought.I was pretty sure I\'d find out it didn\'t come with maps, or I had to buy a monthly subscription, or something. But no, it works better than my new F150 with built in nav. It\'s way easier to find stuff, and finds things my Ford nav system doesn\'t believe exists. It works great. It is very easy to see where it\'s telling me to turn (unlike my built in ford or Jeep). It\'s super easy to put in an address (unlike my stock ford and Jeep systems). It even has an awesome feature where it tells you not to use while driving, but you can choose to over-ride (unlike my ford or Jeep). This is critical because I usually have a passenger to put in addresses or search for stores, and with my $1500 factory options, the only choice is to pull over and stop so my passenger can put in the address. With this unit, the passenger just acknowledges that using it while moving is dangerous (they assume only the driver would ever touch it, for some reason).Buy this one. I can\'t imagine what you get for more money, but I can tell you I don\'t need anything this one doesn\'t do.
    • The first GPS unit I used several years ago cost me close to $200. And if I wanted maps for the entire U.S., that was an upgrade. So were updates for those maps. This unit is a fraction of the cost and comes with the entire U.S. (I used it to drive cross country) and the updates were free too. In my opinion, it does everything (and a few more things) that the older $200 model did. It may not have the larger screen and you may not be able to give it voice commands, but I was and am VERY happy with it!
    • My dad used this GPS for general navigation when he went to work and to drive to other places in Hawaii. Overall it was a good GPS, it worked. Just that heat got to it and caused its to break.
    • Even after up dating like Garmin recommends, it Still makes mistakes. I AM STILL PLEASED with this purchase! I\'m 70 and enjoy new toys! Love that it Remembers places I\'ve been That saves TIME!! What you See on the screen is more detailed (for me) than my cell phone, and it frees up the phone for other things!!!!
    • When speaking with Garmin Support, I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the absolute lack of support. \"We only show the features what we are being send\" Poor, poor response
    • I bought this unit for my daughter who was making a move from IL to CA. She said the way the address is entered is different than she was used to with a Tom Tom unit, but once she figured out the quirks of the system it worked great on her trip.
