- The cable fits my Garmin GPS perfectly, and allows me to use the GPS in the car again. It is a long and sturdy cord, so I can position the Garmin where I need to without the cord being in the way of my drive.I recommend this replacement cord.
- I needed a cable that would allow me to Charge a Garmin DriveSmart 60 NA from a small portable external battery without the GPS complaining about being unable to Charge properly. I prefer putting a battery next to the GPS on the dash rather than trail cables everywhere and a decent small battery gives me several full days of driving.This cable worked perfectly. A data cable will not allow the device to be charged this way properly and this cable will. This isn\'t a data cable, it\'s a charging only cable.This is exactly what it says in the description and worked perfectly as advertised.
- It didn\'t work for me. When I plugged it into my Garmin Nuvi 2689, It went into \"data mode\" - indicating I should go to garmin.com/express to use Garmin Express for data-sync and map updates. It shows the image of the GPS connected to a computer - and it gives a message: \"The attached power cable cannot be used to charge this device\". It shows the battery-icon in RED, with an exclamation mark - no charging was taking place.I also tried it with my older Nuvi 2555, and I got the same data-sync icon, but it did allow trickle-charge, but not full charge. So even though the description says this cable is data-only, it clearly isn\'t.On the back of the package, was written \"Mini USB cable 6.5ft\" - it didn\'t say anything about that this was \"power only\" not for data, and didn\'t say it was for \"garmin\" as it does in the Amazon listing.I didn\'t have the heart to give it one star. It\'s a nice cable, thick and sturdy, it has that nice right-angled connector. I\'d be very happy to own this cable for data-transfer. I feel like it will last a long time. It is simply not as described.The listing says \"Any question about the USB car cable, just contact us, friendly service give you the most satisfactory reply\" - I contacted the vendor, explaining what I found, and I got a very friendly and helpful reply. Thanks to YQMAJIM, I received a refund, and they pledged to update the listing. They went out of their way to make sure I was a happy customer. Keep up the good work, and thanks!Meanwhile, I ordered a different garmin-specific power cable, which did work ok for both my Garmin units. I must say that finding a Garmin USB cable is tricky! The cable must be made with the 5th-wire connected as per Garmin spec. Even so, it might not work for various reasons: max current of your USB port, Traffic-receiver requirements, and more. Best to get a regular Garmin OEM charger for only $15, but if you want to make use of existing USB-A connector, I can say it is possible, but you need to get the right cable, and that might require a bit of experimentation to work through all the issues.
- Garmin GPS units cannot use regular miniUSB cables for power, they need a special one with a resistor between two of the pins. If you want a cable to connect your GPS to a computer, this is not it, just use any old USB A to mini cable. This one is what you need to connect your GPS to a USB port in your car to power it, in place of the included cigarette lighter power supply. It works perfectly.
- This cord not only allowed me to hook directly to a USB tap on my vehicle (vice the \"cigarette lighter\" power port), it\'s right angle connection keeps the cord up close to the GPS and makes managing the cable easier. This cable also does not engage the system to look for a computer it simply powers the unit up as it would if only on battery mode.
- Does not transfer data so I can\'t update my GPS with this cord. It was a waste of time purchasing it when now I have to buy another cord.
