- Installed this in my 2019 Highlander LE Plus. Visually it\'s a solid upgrade to the factory unit, and in terms of technological capability it\'s quite huge leap. I was initially impressed with this unit, but after about a month of use I found several annoying problems that caused me to return it.The install was very straight forward and can be done in about 10 minutes if you\'re comfortable taking apart a dash trim pieces. 30 minutes tops if you\'re a first-timer. All of the necessary adaptors were included in the box, and the only thing that was confusing was which composite input to use for the backup camera.My primary goal was to add CarPlay (wired) to the car. The \"app\" that runs CarPlay is called ZLink and really wants to \"upgrade\" to wireless CarPlay which is unreliable and laggy. This was a headache, but I was able to workaround to forcing the phone to be unlocked before CarPlay would launch (phone setting).The screen itself is pretty huge, but unfortunately it doesn\'t get bright enough for comfortable usage during the day. There is a brightness setting, but it\'s still not bright enough. There is no volume button, which can be a big deal when the volume of sources is inconsistent.Overall, think of this as a cheap Android tablet. The launcher from the factory has a very tacky look, and probably 3 or 4 pages of \"apps\" like DVR, NVR, FrontCam, BackCam, etc. I tried a few other launchers from the Play Store and found one that was decent. I also had to program the steering wheel controls, but there was 3 places to do it and only one actually worked. All of this was time-consuming, but eventually after several hours I thought I got everything where I wanted it.Until I started driving. For some strange reason the audio level drops out to half for several seconds every so often as I\'m driving around. It feels like it\'s ducking the audio to allow for navigation to speak directions, but I don\'t have any apps running except audio (any audio such as Spotify, CarPlay, YouTube, etc.). I tried a factory reset and, again, spent several hours trying to figure this out. Working in IT, I\'m comfortable with troubleshooting a problem for hours and days if necessary. I really wanted this thing to work, as having YouTube in the car for kids was pretty awesome. Unfortunately, I couldn\'t fix. the audio ducking problem, and it was annoying enough for me to give up on this unit.
- This unit makes a seamless replacement for a Highlander. It looks like it was meant to be there all along! It’s a beautiful screen and works perfectly. CarPlay works really well and is fast. I highly recommend pairing with a custom wireless charger for the nook underneath it to take full advantage of wireless CarPlay.
- I bought this not to long ago. The installation is simple and easy to do. It\'s really plug and play and fits perfectly in my 2015 Toyota highlander. Works great and many features I have not yet discover. I would recommend and give it 10 stars if I could.
