Garmin Heart Rate Monitor Swim, 010-12342-00
- This works great. But the one thing I would say is that if you swim in a rash guard or a wetsuit just get the Tri Strap (black band with blue sensor). I have both but got the swim first. It’s not the most comfortable to wear out of the water (on a bike or hiking), so I got the tri to wear out of the water even though they are both water proof. The big advantage to the Swim HRM is that it stays in place better if you are bare chested or wearing a 2 piece. I swim mostly open water in a rash guard or thin wetsuit. The rash guard keeps the tri strap in place so I could have done without the swim strap in all but bare chested pool swimming.
- I used it for 2.5 y swimming 3-4 times per week, 40-50 min sessions, no problems at all, but its just for swimming, not for other sports. I gave a Fenix 3, but haven’t used since March due to Covid19 crisis. I do recommend it, it does what is ment to do.
- While the captured data seemed reliable as one would expect from a Garmin device the fit during usage was less than desired. The belt loosened up on my laps and contact was lost several times and at one point it loosened up to the point it ended up around my waist. I am not a fast swimmer 2:45/100y and my turns are slow, no flip turns for this guy so I would expect it to stay in place. I gave it a 2 star because it did measure HR good and what data I did get was informative. Just don\'t like how it \"rode\" during swim.
- I really liked this product. I swim 3x a week and have cared for the product per the care instructions. But after 2 1/2 months of use, the strap hasn\'t held up well at all. I feel that given the price, this product should have been made to last.
- I have had one of these for over two years. And use 2-3 times per week. It does require regularly tightening the strap just a bit. It is made of stretch material and it goes in the water. This is not big deal and worth the 10 seconds it takes to do it.
- I love this product. I have used it three times a week for two years and it works very well. Yes, You have to tighten the strap occasionally but once you get the hang of it, it\'s no problem. I just want to order the strap extender because mine is stretched and worn out. Garmin should offer this piece on their site or here on Amazon. I don\'t need to order the whole piece. Still working (of course). I highly recommend this device.
