Garmin Constant Power Cable, Compatible with Garmin Dash Cam, Fits Vehicles OBD-II Port for Power Even When Parked and Turned Off
- Good quality and sufficient power input for my dash cam. I can also use the other usb port for my cell phone charge. Also additional option timeout 10m/24h/forever to protect my battery. I would suggest you to use black 3m tape to adhere the usb port instead the one inside package.
- I purchased this for my Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2. It was so simple to use, it literally just plugs into the port and then you mount it where you want and it stays there. I didn\'t have to splice any wires, run the wire to a charging port, or get fancy to wire constant power in. It\'s a very elegant solution, and it will accept two cameras at once since it has two USB ports. The selector switch is also nice, and useful. The only downside was the price imho. I think it probably cost less than $2 to manufacture, so it could be sold for about half price. But it\'s what\'s available and it works well so there it is. Maybe we\'ll get another stimulus check in the future and I can afford another : )
- I have a 2014 Hyundai sonata. forbidden by Hyundai to splice ,add on to wiring.due to computer faults.drive by wire car.this works well.had no full time power, available by Hyundai.
- Works great so far. Easy install. On a ford escape 2017 you can’t put the cover back on once unit is plugged in. Great safety features.
- I used this to power my Garmin dash cam and it works great! Much better than having it plugged into my 12V port
- This does do what it is supposed to do, but it should be about half the price.Be careful with this with EVs. The 12v standard operates in a range, and very small fluctuations can eventually cause your car\'s computer to return errors. EVs don\'t have alternators, so if you are not charging every night it may only maintain your 12v battery in 30 hour cycles (like the Chevy Bolt, for example). The low voltage protection circuit in the Garmin allows too much fluctuation before it turns off. This will slowly deplete your 12v over time, and it could take a while before that happens, so be warned you may find out that you can\'t use this device until after the return period has passed.Mine functioned great for about two months. Now I can\'t use it at all. And I can\'t return it. I\'m stuck with an expensive plastic switch that I can\'t use, and will be lucky to sell used.
- Super easy install plug it in and you have two constant power (usb) plugs to power camera(s) and radar detector. Most new cars do not have the OG USB plugs so this is great.
- I have a 2017 VW GTI and was not especially looking forward to fuse-tapping, wire-splicing, etc. in a tiny space. With the Constant Power Cable, I slipped it effortlessly onto the OBD port near my left knee, used the enclosed Velcro tabs to fasten the USB plugs under the dash, and plugged in the dash cam (Garmin Mini 2). Done!I have it set on 10 minutes, and so far no draining issues or any other problems. I can\'t even see the red indicator light unless I crawl under the dash (that\'s good; the last thing I need is more distractions).
