APPS2Car GPS Suction Cup Mount for Garmin, Window Mount Replacement GPS Ball Mount Phone Holder for Car Dashboard Windshield for Garmin Dezl Drive Nuvi Zumo DriveSmart Driveassist StreetPilot RV
- This is by far the sturdiest and most rigid gooseneck mount I\'ve ever come across and the added support piece is a great idea. However... the standard Garmin mount takes a 17mm ball and this has a 17.2mm ball. With all my strength I could not get it to fit as the opening of the socket is only 15.3mm that expands to accept the 17mm ball. Such a shame, I liked everything else about this product.I did find another straight neck mount that I was able to get to fit with a little \"Impact Persuasion\", but the neck on the APPS2 car mount was too long and flexible for me to get it in. If you have the strength, it will probably work fine. Like I said it seems like a superior mount. hope this helps.
- This has a good sturdy mount and while the arm is adjustable, it stays in place very well. I have one for my F-150 and one for my Nissan Murano, both of which have deep dashboards. I no longer have to stretch while entering addresses in from the built in keyboard display, and the Garmin stays in place while I do so since the arm is stiff enough to not move in the process. Very useful addition.
- I misplaced my first one when taking out truck to Van so had to order another one. Same one because I\'ve had lots of different mount holders and they don\'t last but this one I had for a year and the suction was still strong holds up during bumpy rides. When I took it off window I had to use strength cause the adhesion and suction was so strong. I\'M going to gift this to my son when he starts his truck business.
- Windshields are so far from the dash that I cannot reach anything that is stuck to it. The rod is long enough that I can stick the suction pad to the wind shield at a point that is low enough that it does not block my view. The GPS is sitting in just the right place. The only problem is that the GPS vibrates, making it hard to use. I bought a phone mount that works in the air vent and another one with a clip made to hold a phone when the clip is opened wide. The clip on the vent mount stops the vibration. There is no risk of the GPS moving from side to side.I am happy with my setup.
- I bought this as a replacement for a previous GPS holder of similar design that mounted directly to the windshield with a short, rigid extension. This version replaces the rigid extension with a much longer \"gooseneck\" and a vastly improved suction cup that grips like a vise. Time will tell if it will hold up to the continual vibration and sunlight that seem to weaken all such mounts over time, but my initial impressions are favorable. On the downside, while the gooseneck may give some users the extra \"reach\" they need to mount to their windshield, if you don\'t need that reach the previous version might be a better choice.Upon initial use, I quickly realized that mounting my GPS to the fully extended gooseneck without the included \"stabilizer\" was a non-starter. At the end of the unsupported \"stalk,\", my GPS jiggled and swayed at every bump in the road. I didn\'t think there was any risk of it coming loose, but the continual bouncing was very distracting. Unfortunately, in my preferred mounting location, there isn\'t a good place to add the stabilizer, so I looked for another location where I could brace the gooseneck or the GPS itself against something solid..Ultimately, I mounted to the windshield directly in front my driving position and rested the GPS itself on the top of the dash. This provided the two points of stability that solved the bouncing problem, but it may not be the best solution for safety reasons. Having the GPS positioned so much closer is helpful for reaching the controls. But having the continually moving display right in my line of sight is very distracting,.I may get used to it in time, but upon further reflection and experience, I believe the previous version was better for my needs. It was long enough to keep the GPS within reasonably easy reach but off to the side where it didn\'t compete for my attention. I may continue playing around with this mount to see if I can figure out a way to move it back to the side with the requisite bracing.
- I like it. It goods product
- Update: adding stars due to outstanding customer service who reached out to me to make things right. The suction of these is horrible! The main suction part has a horrible sticky residue. More like suctioning is just getting glued to the window/dash. The smaller attachment, which you really need for this long arm if you don’t want it to be wobbly, has zero sticking strength. As soon as I put the arm on top of it it came off the dashboard. I wish I had t thrown away the packing so I could return this.
- The attachment of this unit is very solid, and it replaced a dash vent unit that wasn\'t strong enough to hold the unit in position. My only concern is that over rough roads the flexibility of the unit arm causes the GPS unit to shake making it hard to read, but at least it stays in place.
