Bushnell Neo ION Golf GPS Watch, Black

  • Many reviews on Amazon, so I will get to the point. I like the device. It is better than guessing at the yardage when markers are not readily visible on the course. It has changed my approach club selection in many instances. I like that it gives both the front green and back green distances. Also, the hazard distances have been useful. The strap is OK...even though I have not typically worn a watch golfing. The time it takes to locate the course on GPS seems long, but is tolerable if you know it will take a while. A few holes were way off [distance to green] on a remote course I never play. Otherwise, the distances seem to be spot on...close enough for my game. The charging \"dock\" is less than ideal, but OK when you see how it fits and practice charging it a few times. It has a quirk in that when I am done with the round, the clock loses an hour. Maybe I have it set up wrong, but I think others have also noted this. If not for these minor issues, I would rate a \"5.\"
  • I\'m writing this review based on 4 years of ownership. This is a really good range finding watch from a company that stands behind its products. I depend on its accuracy, and in fact used it today. What I like: Its comfortable, it obtains the satellites quickly, its distances are accurate on courses I have played in western NYS and Florida. I like that it gives you the distance to the end of fairway, and hazards. The course I normally play has two par 5s where, for the second shot, it is critical to know the distance to the woods on the 90 degree turn up to the green, in order to center the shot. Also, the carry over ponds distance allows the correct selection of the club you need. I have another hand held gps device, but the watch is so much more convenient. Just a glance to the wrist. The only thing that has broken on the watch in 4 years of heavy use is the little rubber crosspiece that the band tucks under. I use a twist tie now to hold the band tip down. Brother has an expensive Garmin watch. The Bushnell picks up the satellites twice as fast as his device, and we have found the Bushnell is more accurate. Go figure. Maybe it depends on who did the course mapping. Biggest reason I would buy another: in Florida, I inadvertently managed to remove ALL the 35,000+ course data from the watch. Don\'t ask, it involved a Chromebook OS. Bushnell engineer was not even aware this could happen. Watch was off warranty. But they said send it in. I did, they reloaded all the data and installed a new watch band. AFTER it was returned, they simply requested the shipping cost, and I sent a check. Great company, great product, great customer service. Highly recommend this golf watch. You won\'t be disappointed.
  • Generally, it\'s a good solid watch for distance and marking hazards. But the charging cable is terrible and the plastic on the watch itself breaks easily after attaching the unruly charging cable over time. Not a great concept when there are numerous alternatives. I wouldn\'t buy this model again nor any with this charging cable idea.
  • I\'ve owned the Bushnell Neo Ion Gps watch for about a month. I\'ve used it at least 5 or 6 times. I read plenty of reviews before buying it. First of all, I have no problems with the strap. It is soft which makes it nice and comfortable. I had no issues with it snapping. I imagine if you pull the strap extra hard maybe it could be an issue. It\'s not the same strong plastic material like my GShock, but I no issue. The battery is great. It was still three quarters full after one round. The watch came charged. Funny looking dongle attaches to the watch to charge it. Don\'t lose it, cause you won\'t have anything else at home to match it. You\'ll have to order another one. There are 5 buttons on the Neo Ion. Top left button brings up a menu with the top selection being play golf. It automatically finds the course you are at. Takes a few minutes so do it as soon as you arrive. Once the course pops up it automatically goes to the first tee. If your someplace that has more than one course, it seems to pick out the right one most of the time. Center button on the right selects the right course. The Neo Ion gives you front back and center of the green. The yardages seem to be dead on. I compared it to other lasers and a golf cart gps. The Neo Ion picks up to 4 hazards getting those are a wee bit tricky. I\'m stil learning. I believe the center button on the right brought up the hazards. Top and bottom buttons on the right changed the hole manually. Top button on the left tracks yardaage on each shot. I used that for my drives. Useful. The Neo Ion doesn\'t keep score but I don\'t need it for that. It automatically changes holes as you approach the next tee box.I find the Neo Ion to be much better than using my golf app, even though I still use the golf app to keep score. The Neo Ion is better than my old golf buddy. I don\'t have to reach into my pocket for anything. Flip of my wrist gives me all the info I need. I only use the watch for golf but I like the level of water resistance. I like the battery life ( it should easily last for 3 rounds ) and it looks sturdy. If I had any beef it would be that I would want more than 4 hazards listed.
  • Tossed my non-functional Garmin S4 and picked up the Bushnell Neo-Ion. So far it works great. Easy to use and gives you all the information you really need. Make sure when you register and initialize it, you have the power on. Otherwise your computer will tell you it\'s not connected. Also, have fun trying to get the watch mounted on the charging plate. It\'s seriously wonky but eventually can be done. Having said that, it\'s good looking, very light weight, very comfortable and works great. Haven\'t had a chance to test battery life yet but will soon. So far, I\'m highly satisfied. Now (10 days later) I\'ve used it several times and it rocks! Played two rounds and wore it as a watch for a week and it still has half it\'s battery capacity. I\'m sure I would easily get in a third round without charging. It\'s easy to get the info you need too. Love it.
