Garmin Anti-Glare Screen Protectors for Montana, Standard Packaging
- Mine came with 2 protectors and was supplied with a stiff card to apply the protector(s) eliminating air bubbles. Some report not having much luck with the first installation and end up having to use the second protector to get it right. I squared it to the small end of the display and rolled it to the other end using the card to eliminate air bubbles along the way. Was a perfect fit.It might be necessary to turn the background lighting somewhat up to compensate for some attenuation of display brightness. I guess an argument can be made for an increase in battery power. On the trail, I don\'t look at it that often so the display is normally off. In a vehicle, it\'s powered by the on board electrical system, so I don\'t have a real big issue with it., especially if it protects my $500 GPS screen from the scratches my Etrex 20 screen got over the years. The touchscreen seemed to be less squirrelly to the touch, almost as if the original screen was designed overly sensitive in order to accommodate a protector. There is another product available here that reportedly does not attenuate screen brightness that might be worth a try.
- I originally installed these as part of installation of the rugged cradle for my motorcycle since that item comes with 2 or 3 of these. I did a long trip through the mountains in eastern KY and it was verrrrrry muddy for a couple days and I ended up pretty much destroying the screen protector due to trying to wipe mud off it or just having to touch and drag on the device to access the map. Of course I can\'t find the rest of the protectors that came with the cradle so I purchased this to replace. The screen itself was flawless underneath the ruined protector so they\'re apparently doing the job. The protector was in pretty good shape from the previous 18 months before that trip so I think it\'s just the overly muddy environment I was in but again, it did it\'s job as a consumable item to protect the screen.
- I just received and installed on my Montana 600t. The cover fit perfectly and was EASY to install! I had a horrible time applying a screen cover to my iPad, but this thing sucked right down to the screen and I didn\'t even have to coax any bubbles out! I actually laughed after installing it having anticipated more trouble.I turned the unit on to test screen operation. Worked perfectly. No noticeable degradation of screen function.Only thing that I haven\'t been able to test is whether or not it\'s actually anti-glare. But I highly doubt it can be any worse than the bare factory screen is in the sun!One star reviewers comment on having to cut to fit, touch screen not working, being \'garbage\'.. I very much question the legitimacy of those reviewers. Or they did not purchase protectors for the correct unit for whatever reason.
- This screen protector works just fine and actually facilitates the smooth sliding of your finger over the screen better than the Zagg shields. It\'s anti-glare and sticks solidly to the screen. Zagg stopped making their shield for the Montana due to possible screen damage upon removal. I don\'t know what the other reviewer was talking about but this protector does not slide around if installed. It\'s got a sticky side that sticks solid to the screen. I don\'t know how it would ever slide around. Overall excellent product at a reasonable price.November 17th, 2012 - UPDATE: After abusing my GPS over the summer and during hunting season I have to say that these screen protector has saved my GPS from major nicks and scratches and potentially having to spend $150 to get the screen replaced. If you own a touchscreen GPS and don\'t have a screen protector you will be sorry down the road. Spend the measly couple of bucks and get this or any screen protector. You\'ll be so glad you did.
- This is a must have for Touch Screen GPS units. I have it installed on my Garmin Montana 600T GPS. It protects the sensitive screen from scratches due to dirt, dust, sand and excess usage. It\'s a little difficult to install but follow the directions and you should end up with a nice, sealed protective screen. It\'s also glare free which really helps me view my GPS when I have it mounted on the dash of my Jeep. I highly recommend this screen protector to all the Touch Screen GPS users out there.
- I was looking for a new GPS unit for hunting/hiking that would work with my (HuntMontana) chip that I use in my nuvi. I did some research on the Oregon and the Montana and thought the Montana would fit my requirements. The reviews I read were mostly positive and after my experience so far have they have turned out to be accurate. It\'s very fast and seems to be very accurate.I still have a lot to learn about the options and have only scratched the surface of its capabilities.I do like the ease of operation. Its somewhat of a combination between my Nuvi and my iPhone so for me it\'s been easy to navigate the program.
- The 680 was good in 2000 but so outdated for 2020. Get the 700 series and you’ll be impressed.
- fits nice, its for antiglare so its a matte style stick on protector, maybe not necessary but i believe the gps have plastic screen so its a good idea. may or may not make the image a bit dim. tends to attract lint while attaching to the device, make sure you clean the device or you will have air bubble from the smallest particle.
