- I\'ve had the 3 and 6x prior to this. I upgraded for the flash and the touchscreen as well as the significantly improved battery life. This thing is bullet proof. All the previous functionality through the Garmin app is maintained if not improved. I use it as an everyday watch and for my biking and hiking needs. I\'ve also used it for swimming and SUP and have been impressed. As with previous versions, more faces will be developed so I\'m not holding the slim options against it for now. Not cheap but it\'s hands down the winner in this space for me.
- Garmin willfully sells defective products. At best, should customers cause a loud enough noise, they will improve upon their design. However, they\'ve still sold me a $1,000 piece of junk... and nothing will change that.Imagine spending $1,000 on a laptop, tablet, or TV that can\'t be powered properly straight out of the box.The watch is as I would expect. It has held up over the last 7 months. However, having to play with the cord and position the watch *just* right so that it can charge -- is utterly disgraceful, disgusting, and deplorable. I didn\'t spend $1,000 in order to wrestle with a product. There are plenty of alternatives on the market -- for far less. The Garmin Fenix 7X is a smart with dumb design.I wouldn\'t recommend any Garmin product that uses the same plug / charging method. In fact, I doubt I\'ll ever buy another Garmin product due to the obvious defective design. Older Garmin products have better charging methods. There is no excuse.Any review of this watch that excludes the difficulties associated with charging -- isn\'t written with your best interests at heart.
- Bought the Garmin Fenix 7x Sapphire SolarBattery life: expect about 2 weeks with pulse ox turned on at night and with one of the stock watch faces with seconds display turned on. Displaying seconds consumes more battery life. This is the biggest downer for me.However, if you do turn on the smart battery saving feature, the standby time will increase to about 2.5 months. Of course, then you do not take advantage of the pulse oximeter or any other feature.Solar charging: it\'s there, it feels good, but it\'s utterly useless. Meaning, you can leave your watch facing the full sun for 3-4 hours and the charging level does not budge even a 1%. So I\'m not sure why I paid for it if it\'s not providing.Scratch resistant: the sapphire screen really holds up well against occasional bruises against the wall or various objects or corners around the house. Of course, if you really insist, you could eventually provide it with a scratch, but I\'d rather not do that.Water resistant: It shines here. Even took how showers with it and nothing funny happened.Exercises companion: it really shines here, with all of its programs for running, swimming, etc. Connect it to strava as well and you get a full picture of your exercising activities.GPS: occasional longer times with GPS synchronization, IF you do change the location of your synchronization from the previous attempt. I believe this is to be expected. Otherwise, the GPS sync\'ing works fine. One note on this: I do synchronize the watch via GPS every now and then and I noticed that the incoming time is NOT always perfect down to the second, when the time is compared with the https://time.is site. I cannot tell in the end wich one is absolutely right, but I tend to believe that the site is correct in displaying the absolute correct time, because it uses atomic clocks as inputs. The fenix\'s GPS synchronization will be subject to delays from the weather, position, clear line-of-sight and many other factors. The upside of the GPS synchronization is that the time zone is automatically set, so if you do travel between time zones, is enough one GPS synchronization and the time zone will be accordingly updated. Conclusion: is it worth a $1000 for a 7x sapphire solar? No, at that level it does not deliver, especially the solar part. However, if you do find it at a discount or a sale, then it may become a good deal.
- This smartwatch is actually a computer, between all the fitness features, outdoor activity profiles and applications, this watch is surely to meet and exceed your expectations. I\'ve been wearing my for almost two months now, and came from two previous Garmin devices (instinct and the Vivoactive 4), and always liked the ruggedness of the instinct but with the features, watch faces an touch screen of the Vivoactive 4, and after reading a lot about all the devices in Garmin line, I seriously evaluated buying an Enduro, an instinct 2 or a tactix. What I wanted was the battery life of the Enduro, the ruggedness of the instinct 2 and the activity profiles and looks of the tactix. Let me tell you, this Garmin 7x sapphire solar, has it all, I\'m very happy with my decision. So far a solid watch, very eye catching and wit a lot of functionalities.Another thing I really like is that with Garmin\'s quick fit watch band system, you can have a totally different watch just by rapidly exchanging the watch bands, I specially like the titanium ones for a very modern yet tough style, and for a formal occasion there are leather bands and analog watch faces that can give you a very classy look.Summarizing: in my opinion, is the best smart watch in the market, considering all the training features, outdoor activity profiles and functions, it\'s toughness is unmatched with it\'s titanium bezel and solar sapphire crystal, which means you need no screen protector or cover and lastly, is a watch that always looks good in any situation, just by changing the watch bands, you have a totally different watch, appropriate for any occasion. Highly recommended.
