Garmin DriveSmart 51 LMT-S Bluetooth Automotive GPS w/ Lifetime Maps & Traffic (Renewed)
- I like the size, I can put it in my pocket if I need to. If the volume is not loud enough I have a portable speaker I can use to bump it up. It looks like new!Cowboy Jolee
- I bought this renewed unit, haven’t owned a gps in a while. I’ve been using Waze and Google maps, but using this unit I remember the quality that comes with a dedicated GPS. Better and faster and clearer verbal directions on approaching a turn. You truly feel assisted while driving. Waze is always just a tick slower than you want and just so rough with the interface, but hey it’s free.Anywho yeah this thing was not new, you could see some finger smudges, I wiped off, so hopefully it truly was tested before sending it out. No scratches, and I really looked. It was practically brand new shape. Such an insanely great price given the quality in the unit. I’m all about renewed tech. The traffic chord does come with it and worked fine, and I tested the phone Bluetooth app connection which can also provides traffic in case I lose the chord, also worked fine. Maps updated via Wi-Fi in about 30 mins (it first estimated 3 hrs but corrected itself after a few minutes). The voice command is very good, its fast in understand and decent in responding … kind of shocking how good. In a way you don’t even need the screen. Spend extra bucks on this Drivesmart (which allows verbal commands) vs older Drive models is probably worth it.The size of the unit is great, I want to be able to throw it in my luggage when traveling for any rental cars and not have to worry about the size/weight of lugging it around. The one and seemingly only negative is in just one instance I drove it around my neighborhood and it did take me the longer way around to a destination. It directed me down a straight narrow road farther away vs a curvy road that was shorter and wider and got me to the destination faster.update: the customer service is great, one of the back attachment was not in good shape and the company sent me a replacement part and it arrived in only a few days, excellent service
- Many features, but you can not add or look up location while car is in motion. during my long trip, my copilot was going to see restaurant near by but was restricted due to car in motion. Good safety feature but not able to stop every time to look for gas stations or restaurant during your long road trips.
- It’s ok
- Like others said, it\'s refurbished but once it\'s in your car, you wouldn\'t know it. I synced it with my iPhone, as it\'s a \"smart\" nav system. Now whenever I get an email, text message, notification, anything, it shows up on the nav screen. While that sounds like a good idea, I actually found it to be a distraction. It also has live traffic updates. It seemed to work fine. For giggles I compared it with Waze. It selected a different route in rush hour Boston-Newton drive (6 miles - 1 hour!) but it would theoretically got there at the same time. Some would question why get this when we already have phones with maps/waze, etc. It\'s a matter of preference - this is a single job tool while you might be using your phone to actually, you know, talk. One important thing - I planned to use this on our vacation in Europe and I learned that the additional maps are very pricey - like $70-$90.
- This is a great deal. Works like a charm, more than what I really needed however will do just fine. This is not a GPS specifically for a motorbike however that is why I got it. The screen does not take direct sunlight well but I did use it in the car and if I did not already have a built-in Nav system I would use it all the time. Really no complaints in it\'s mapping and directional capability, downloadable software tools work well and lots of options building routes, way-points, etc. at home which can be up-loaded to the unit, before heading out for trips. The one complaint I do have is battery; it lasts maybe 40 minutes if configured for lower screen brightness. Again, it is meant to be plugged in when used but why even bother to have a battery then if it only last 30 minutes?
- note this is a refurbished GPS, after unbaging the battery was completely dead had to use a wall adapter 12v. as plugging into computer would not charge enough to turn on, when turned on I started to set up the touch screen was finicky as to where to acknowledge yes/no etc, I setup the wifi with no issues along with bluetooth, I then went to update it said had software and map update so updated said it would take 2 hours, after a bit it dropped down to 30 mins after I updated it, it seemed to work better with touch screen the rest of everything went fine give a thumbs up to refurbished gps
- I could not have went on my road trips if I didn’t have this GPS. My old one died and I searched on the web for recommendations and this came out. It’s a great product for a great price.
