- This thing looks great mounted in my car. I installed it in an empty spot next to the cigarette lighter and wired a second cigarette socket that\'s hidden behind the dash with a dual usb quick charger that this plugs into. Basically an extension cable from the hidden car charger. It quick charges my phone via the usb mount flawlessly.I tested the transfer times on a usb 3.0 slot on my computer and the transfer speeds are still blazin fast. This thing didnt hinder the speeds at all.One problem I ran into when install in my car was the clips you push through to the other side and expand to lock the mount in place were too long and couldn\'t clear the panel to lock in place. I needed to cut them but doing so left enough space for the mount to slightly when used so I had to find something to wedge the gaps to make it seat solid. It wasn\'t difficult but it was extra work I didnt count on.Other than that, this thing delivers as promised. I\'m ordering a second one for the usb slots for the head unit in my car.
- I like how thick the cables are and dislike how thick the cables are. Quality versus install ease.
- Data transfers on this are up to specs. I would give it a \'5\' but the double-connector block seems to be slightly out of spec. I like that they are snug, but all of the cables I plug into it are very difficult to get in and out. I feel like I\'m going to break it at some point, or snap the end of one of my devices.
- extended the 3.0 connection from the ePCI add-in card and made a whole in the now not used CD plate and snapped it in. no more cables up from the back of the desk.
- I used this to install extra charging ports in my truck. The build is very good quality, the cables are sturdy, and the plugs and sockets have a good, positive feel to them. Install was as simple as cutting a square-sized hole that matches the extension, then popping it into place. The outer bezel gives the ports a nicely finished appearance. After installation I tested connectivity and the voltage and amperage levels show good connections.
- I changed out the OEM head unit on a Ford \'12 e350 van. The new head unit supports 2 USB ports, one of which is android auto / apple carplay. The ports required extensions to be used. The dashboard is huge (it has 3 cigarette lighters) and has plenty of space for a hole to be dremeled out and this snapped in. I had to modify the clips that hold this in place because the dash plastic was too thick. It fits, it\'s a little crooked, but that is my poor (first time) handy work. I love this thing, makes it easy to add USB ports to your dash.
- One of the clips broke off as soon as I installed it in my dash. The ports are very tight so the entire unit pulls out of the dash when I disconnect my usb. I guess you get what you pay for.
- This part functions correctly as stated but the installation is a bear to due.The thickness of the panel you mount this to will make the part fit more or less correctly.Hole size of course will affect the fit but I ended up using super glue to hold it in place.RV silicon glue would be better but I had to finish the radio installation in the same day.There should be a link to a template for cutting the correct hole size.Calipers worked but drawing the hole to cut out on a odd shaped panel can be a challenge.
