ATOTO P8 Portable On-Dash Car GPS Navigation, Wireless CarPlay & Wireless Android Auto, 7inch QLED Touchscreen, WDR & Auto Dimmer, Bluetooth, Remote Control, AUX/FM Output, P807SD-RM
- I put this in my 2006 GX470 as an alternative to getting the whole new stereo which has been proven difficult in the GX with Nav. Im very pleased with all of the features. My only disappointment is that when radio stations are not strong, my bluetooth starts to fade out and I have to find an alternative station or ride it out until better reception is received. But no regrets on this purchase.
- Sooooo ATOTO is a great brand, top 3 for Quality Android based head units. The P8 (So Far) is no exception. I got the full pro kit and installed it in my Mustang (Non Shaker, Base model Radio) Everything was as easy to install as expected. Took me approx. 5 hours to install both cameras properly, Run/hide all the wiring through out the vehicle, and test everything before finalizing the install. Wasn\'t overly difficult to install everything professional-like, just of course time consuming removing console, panels etc. to do a proper \"permanent\" install.A few things regarding the install. If you don\'t acre about hiding all the wiring, then the install may go quicker. If you plan to get this thinking You will easily move it between multiple vehicles, You can, but know if you install the cameras in one vehicle, they\'re not easily moveable. You\'ll either have to purchase additional cameras to install and plug in, or use the unit in another vehicle with out the cameras.Secondly, I had planned to remove this from the vehicle a night, and/or store it in a case under seat while in stores, etc. but the master harness plug is not easy to remove once plugged in, and the pin design makes it harder to frequently plug/unplug with out damaging the pins (if not careful). Also, I chose a seat rail installed MDT style mount to use with it to keep it off the windshield/dash and have it within very close reach while driving. The Master Harness location forced me to get creative, and as such, cannot be quickly removed from the mount due to the Harness location. As far as operation...IT works well. DO note this unit DOES NOT have the famous ATOTO Digital audio signal processing the in dash units do. This unit will somewhat rely on your phone\'s and your vehicle\'s in dash stereo sound quality.. I upgraded my cell phone a few days ago to a newer model. I noticed the sound quality was better, and it didn\'t distort/peak nearly as bad when the P8\'s internal volume is turned up past half way like my old phone did. If the sound does distort, turn the volume of the ATOTO P8 unit down to half and increase volume to your liking through your car\'s stereo.Android auto will not work unless you plug into the USB-c jack on the back of the unit. My newer phone allows for wireless android auto connection, so if you have an older phone or doesn\'t use USB C, you\'ll need an adapter cable of some sort. I used a Micro Usb to USB C cable bought on Amazon for my older phone and was able to use Android auto no problem. Android auto will NOT work through the p8\'s power adapter usb/AA plug. While on the subject of Android Auto, IT does work very well. My only gripe is when in Android auto mode, You cannot access system settings like camera DVR, camera settings, nor Bluetooth connectivity. You can either use Bluetooth OR android Auto, Not both. The cameras are of pretty good detail. I like how the dvr records front and rear footage in separate files, and while in live camera mode, you can take still photos of the same quality - also stored in separate files for front and rear cams.Built in speaker is okay, but about as good as a decent cell phone. Haven\'t used the internal speaker much since my Mustang has Sync and I also run an aux cable from the Atoto power adapter 3.5mm jack. The Internal FM transmitter does work, but if you live anywhere populated, You\'ll get interference from local radio stations. The Aux cable route works solidly, and I have no issue with sound quality using that connection method. If you do buy one of these, After installing cameras, upon the first time you fire it up, Adjust sound settings, first, then connect via Bluetooth, adjust any additional display and camera/DVR settings, then Android auto, in that order. Will save you a few headaches and some time.Other features I like about this unit is the ability to set a manufacturer boot logo. When it fires up and that Ford logo displays, it looks a bit OEM, which is a nice touch. Changeable backgrounds and the ability to upload your own on the SD card is also nice.So far I\'ve been using it for a few weeks. I leave it on the mount because my window tint is dark enough no-one can see inside well enough to make anything out even during the day. I also use a sun shade and I haven\'t had any issues from extreme heat nor the high humidity where we live.I\'ll update my review after a good few months of use and report how well it\'s help up. However, at the moment, I do not for see any issues. ATOTO is quality components, well built architecture and reliable software.EDIT: You indeed CAN access DVR settings/Cameras/Unit Settings while in Android Auto connected mode. You need to be in the main app screen (not in google maps nor an APP) and then hold the \'F\' OR \'R\' Buttons on the remote to access one of the cameras. Then hit the menu button to return to the P8\'s main screen. From there you can access all of the other settings and DVR recorded files. To return to Android Auto, simply tap the AA App icon. (Thanks Ricky @ Atoto for the tip)
- I purchased the ATOTO P8 Pro in August 2022. At the time of my writing this review, I have been using my P8 Pro for approximately 2 weeks. In this review, I will highlight the PROS and CONS of the ATOTO P8 Pro. Before I get to the PROS AND CONS I will give you the backstory on why I have purchased the ATOTO P8. I purchased the P8 for my 2011 Honda CRZ. Previously I had a Pioneer NEX double din installed. During fall/winter in the North East, my car would fail to start without a jump. I took my CRZ to the Honda dealership and they determined the shop that installed my 3rd party radio didn\'t know what they were doing and damaged wires. I had to dish out $600 to fix the damaged wires. I now have the OEM radio back in the CRZ and it SUCKS!!!! I bought the P8 to have access to modern features like Wireless CarPlay, Apple Music, Audile, Waze App, 1080P Dual Recording Cameras, etc.What\'s In the Box:I purchased the ATOTO P8 Pro. Inside the box were the 7\" P8 display, reversing and dash cameras, a steering wheel remote control, microphone, a dashboard mount for the P8 unit, all the cables necessary to install the P8 and cameras, and instructions.Setup: Installing the P8 took less than 30mins (i did not install the rearview camera). The P8 is powered by a plug that goes into the cigarette lighter. On the back of the P8 device, there are color-coordinated plugs for the rear camera, dash camera, and microphone. It\'s pretty much plug-and-play. Very intuitive. I didn\'t even need to use the installation instructions.Use & Response Time: I noticed a few reviewers stating they had a delay at times when starting the P8. I have not experienced this issue. The P8 starts as soon as I turn the ignition in my car, however, it does take a few seconds for CarPlay to load. I do not own an Android phone, therefore, I have not yet tested Android Auto. The touch screen response on the P8 is instantaneous, and apps open really quickly, but there again I am primarily using apps in CarPlay (Waze, Apple Music, and Audible).I did not need to install the included microphone and or steering wheel remote control, to my surprise I was able to use my car\'s OEM steering controls to control the volume and skip tracks, etc on P8. And using \"Hey Siri\" from my phone-controlled voice commands; which is really nice. The P8\'s Users Interface is intuitive as well navigating the UI was a breeze. The cameras:I have not installed the rearview/backup camera since I have a wireless backup camera. However, I do plan on having the backup camera installed at a later time since the P8 allows recording for the dash and rearview cameras when the car while driving or parked! The dash camera is very clear, and I love being able to watch recordings of my trip (while parked).PROS:- Ability to use modern radio/ navigation features like Wireless or Wired CarPlay, Android Auto, Waze App, etc- Dash and Backup Cameras that provide crisp video. Along with the option of recording while driving and while parked- 1080P Dual Recording Cameras- Built-In GPS Navigation- Simple / Intuitive Installation- QLED screen with the option of automatically adjusting screen brightness (you can do this manually as well)- Wireless updatesCONS:- The P8 is portable therefore you can expect to have visible wires. I was able to hide the wires in areas of my car\'s interior (view photos)- In certain areas, I have experience static while driving & listening to music or audiobooks. Again, I haven\'t read or seen videos from other reviewers stating they\'ve had this issue. Conclusion:The ATOTO P8 Pro is a great solution if you do not have modern features in your vehicle. It\'s a much cheaper solution than installing a 3rd party radio. The dash camera and from what I\'ve read the backup camera are flawless. The P8 is portable and installation is a breeze making it easy for me to use it in my other car 2005 Nissan Sentra.
