- I purchased these 1\" ball adapters to replace the RAM brand ones that came with my Double Take ADV rear view mirrors. I found these to be superior in the following aspects:1) These are made from stainless steel rather than the aluminum of the RAM adapters.2) These have wrench flats so that you can tighten them with a 12mm open end wrench.3) The TPU plastic of the ball appears/feels to be much harder than that used on the RAM adapters.The reason all these matter for the mirror application is that in order to resist wind forces at speed the RAM bracket has to be tightened down rather firmly. This caused the original ball adapter to deform over time until it was no longer shaped like a round ball but more like an oblong football. This leads to the bracket slipping on the ball and the mirror losing its set position. The other issue is that the RAM ball adapters have no wrench flats to assist in tightening the adapter into the handlebar mirror bracket. This BRCOVAN ball adapter has wrench flats and I was able to tighten them securely and as insurance I applied Loctite 242 to prevent loosening under vibration. I cannot yet say how these ball adapters will hold up over time. If they degrade significantly I will update this review.
- Bought these after having to mangle the original RAM balls that came with my doubletake mirrors. Superior design since they have wrench flats and a much harder ball. The metal used isn\'t soft either, I didn\'t leave any marks when I tightened them down fairly aggressively.
- The BRCOVEN is better than the RAM ball adapter!On the Left is the RAM, no place to tighten it down, aluminum, and deformed the plastic after 1 month.On the Right is the BRCOVEN, 12mm wrench to tighten it down, and stainless steel.Do yourself a huge favor and get these!!!
- The material used here is superior to the ram balls. Holds my Side mirrors on my xr650 perfectly
- The ram ones look like a smashed grape or something after having some mirrors mounted to them. These are stainless, have a hex so a wrench can tighten/loosen them and the rubber is far far superior. Excellent product.
- These 1\" balls are actually better than the comparable RAM product. The genuine RAM balls have an aluminum core and shaft and a circular base above the threads - there is no way to tighten them using an open end wrench. You have to grab them with pliers or channel locks, which leaves an impression in the soft aluminum.This product has a stainless (?) steel core with a hex shaft that allows you to tighten them using a wrench - a huge improvement. RAM should pay attention to this aftermarket copy, because it is better than the original.
