  • First off this is a great device when it works, with the occational hiccup that I cannot pinpoint to attribute to the aftermarket deck or if its the Motorola transmitter. Paired to a Pixel 7, android auto works full features including full audio transcoding for that better sound over bluetooth. I tried this on two media aftermarket decks. On the Sony XAV-6250, this works fairly well and connects once paired to my phone. I do get the most hiccups out of this setup then when I have it paired with (second vehicle) the Alpine ILX-207 this seems to work best with full features and all.I am still on the fence of getting a second one but for now I am good with switching between vehicles. Troubleshooting often is restarting, re-pair connections on the phone, and unplug/replug to the usb socket. The connection will be heavily disrupted when driving under electrical towers. Keep the device in open areas like a glovebox or near a cubby with the phone nearby for the best connection. I tend to keep my phone in pocket or gymbag when on me. So why I give this 4 star??? where it falls short. . . . and these my complaints about this awesome piece of tech. The USB connection is way too short about 2 inches. Connections can be dropped and restarted at random, a USB-C option would have been great with most new vehicles and aftermarket stereos offering the TypeC option. If your stereo does not offer Android Auto/Apple Carplay. This will not make that happen you need to change that stereo. At which point just get a stereo with wireless connections which are also popular. This is a budget fix for those wired connections to get on the wireless bandwagon. :-)
  • Our setup is a 2017 Honda Civic Sedan and Pixel 7 Pros for my wife and me. We share the car.So I was concerned about how this would play out. I was surprised to see how seamless it is. There are some quirks but it works pretty well in 90% of the cases:Setup:Seamless. To be safe I cleared the Bluetooth and android auto settings on my car infotainment. And I removed the Hondacarelink Bluetooth connection on both phones. After this, I started the pairing and it just worked within a minute. Then I disconnected the phone from Bluetooth and paired the second phone. Again, it connected and worked well within a minute. The connection is seamless. I tried running the maps, along with a song playing on Spotify, and then made a call. I did not feel there was any delay. Now I tried out all possible scenarios1. I am the only one in the car and I was the last driver. No problems at all. Android Auto connects within 30 seconds or so.2. I am the only one in the car and I was NOT the last driver and the previous driver is NOT in range or has Bluetooth off on their mobile.Android Auto connects within a minute.3. I am the only one in the car and I was NOT the last driver and the previous driver is in range or has Bluetooth off on their mobile.Android auto connects when the car Bluetooth loses connectivity to the previous driver\'s phone. Mine connects as soon as I reach the end of the alley. Another option is to go to car settings and manually disconnect from the other phone and connect yours.4. Both my wife and I are in the carAndroid Auto connects to the last driver\'s phone. If you press the side button on the device it disconnects from the previous driver\'s phone, but it is unable to connect to the other phone because the car does not give up the Bluetooth connection. It stays connected. So the only option here, if you want to connect to the other phone, is to turn Bluetooth off on the phone where you do not want it to connect. The other phone will connect automatically in a minute. So from what I see in 90% of the cases, the device does an excellent job. There are some uncommon scenarios where you might have to fiddle a bit with the system but it hardly takes a few seconds. Take that from the time you saved here avoiding fiddling with the wires and losing connectivity because of loose wire connections.Overall, this is a great buy. Works seamlessly, has no lag, and does the job really well.Pair it with a CarQiWireless charger and you will be golden!
  • Wireless android auto is fantastic and the MA1 allows you to effortlessly add it to a car that doesn\'t support it out of the box. The setup process was dead simple, and the concerns that I had about using this vs. a cable (reliability/connection quality, battery life, control) turned out to be complete non-issues, if not improved with Wireless AA. The battery barely drops, it connects instantly almost every time, and I\'ve never had it just not connect (a problem that came up too frequently even when using a high quality cable). The only downside I see is that the dongle puts a good bit of strain on the USB port in the car. I am also concerned about the hard wired cable, but it seems to be of good quality and once it is mounted, it shouldn\'t wear much. having a cable that was removable would solve both of these problems and allow you to place it in a more ideal spot. The product also does come with a removable sticky-pad-thing to secure the dongle to a surface, but if you live in an area where it gets below ~10°f, that pad is completely useless and it *will* fall off.In short, if you drive a lot or have problems connecting with a cable and you have a spare $100, the MA1 has been worth every cent for me.
  • The wired connection in my 2018 Dodge Challenger is unreliable. Even when I use a new high quality USB cables the connection is touchy. I\'m going to list a few issues I have with this solution, but they don\'t outweigh the annoyances of using the wired connection.Issue 1: lag. There does seem to be some lag between the phone and using Google Maps on Android Auto. It\'s not bad and only seems to occur when my network connection is low.Issue 2: Continuously tries to connect even when the car is off. The USB port on in the car is powered even when the car is off, so I can\'t completely blame this device. However I feel like it could stop trying to connect if the car or head unit is off.Issue 3: Unexplained disconnects. This one is a bit more frustrating. On a few occasions the unit will just drop connection to the car\'s UConnect system. I don\'t know if this is a problem with the USB port, the device, or my phone. It\'s only happened a couple of times so I\'m still ahead of the wired connection.
