Garmin Rally XC Pedal Body Conversion Kit
- Saw $199 deal so jumped and purchased from \"Sports-and-Gadgets\". these were deff new but just only in bubble wrap loose in the garmin box, kinda odd. but no matter bc all the parts were there and shiny and new. This conversion kit rocks and were as always high quality from Garmin. up to par with my shimano XTR units. these are bigger and bulkier(480g) than shimano SPD pedals (350g) and prob 130g heavier.Adapted my $500 Vector 3 (used on ebay) and off I went. V excited to have dual sided power meter with all the Garmin Cycling Dynamic data. On them on 10 rides and they check out well compre to other power meters. and prob 90% quality clip-ins as the shimanos.
- So often tech companies take the path of making upgrades incompatible with older versions. in this case Garmin did not and I converted my vector 3’s road peddles into mtb spd peddles. How awesome is that! Kudos to Garmin. And they work flawlessly. The conversion was not hard….a little scary because you don’t want to screw it up. I recommend you have the right grease on hand… the conversion kit should come with a small tube but it does not. A torque wrench is nice to have but not a must have (buy one and return it if this will be your only use for it).Just beware a peddle strike on a rock may offset the calibration and you will need to stop and recalibrate…..this was never a issue on road ….dam rock gardens.
- Bought these to convert my Vector 3 Road pedals to SPD. Very straight forward. Work over a surface to control the few parts you disassemble. Be certain to use the Garmin SPD cleats that are included as I found the Shimano SPD cleats were a bit difficult to engage and disengage, even when the pedals\' tension springs were fully backed off. I\'ve come to expect this kind of \"surprise\" with Garmin tech.
- I got this conversion kit so I could use the Rally pedals on my gravel pike after originally getting the SPD-SL version for my road bike. Switching over the bodies was a little tedious and needed a thin walled 12 mm socket. Not something to do very often, maybe once a season. Biggest problem has been getting my SPD cleats to engage properly. These bodies are a little different from my M540 pedals, which my cleats engage into perfectly. Need to add shims to get good engagement, but still isn\'t right. One shoe keeps popping out. Two different XC shoes and both aren\'t engaging solidly. On a good note, the power readings are working fine and setup with my head unit was easy.
- They are great power meters but squeak no matter what I try. Super annoying not only to me but on group rides. I tried new cleats, the included cleats and dry lube. The lube works for 30 minutes and back to squeaking. Non of the cleats squeak when using regular Shimano pedals fwiw. Experience: Ride 9k miles a year
- The conversion kit is great. Pretty simple installation process and now I can use my Vector 3 Power Pedals on my gravel bike without fear of not unclipping fast enough. Not cheap, but significantly cheaper than buying new power pedals.
